Here are my thoughts on the song from my above post. No one except Josh commented, but I figured I'd share my thoughts anyways! Thanks Josh!
He makes a point in saying that “We just feel like we don’t have the means to rise above and beat it.” That’s how I feel sometimes. There is so much wrong with the world today, will we ever be able to rise above it all and change it? Is there hope that one day, things will be as they were meant to be? That one day war, racism and fear will end and we won’t ever have to fear them again? “It’s hard to beat a system when we’re standing at a distance,” so let’s stop waiting. Let’s get up and fight. Fight for Peace. Fight for Love. “It’s not that we don’t care, we just know the fight ain’t fair” but should that stop us? We should join together in fighting for what’s right. Because “one day our generation is gonna rule the population” and “[t]oday is all we have, let us begin” (Mother Teresa). We are the future leaders; let’s choose to rule with peace, with love, with hope, and with faith. Faith that one day things will be different. Let’s put our trust in the God that created, and work with Him for “God is not unjust; he will not forget the work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.” (Hebrews 6:10) “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” (Hebrews 11:1) Let’s have faith that one day all will be restored. That one day peace will reign over violence, once again.
This is what we were instructed to do “Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it all with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen. “(1 Peter 4:8-11)
If we begin with this, with love, we can stop waiting on the world to change. Instead we can change the world one heart at a time. It may seem like something so small, it may seem like we are waiting. But showing someone love is something great. And if you must wait, then wait on the Lord. Wait and pray. God will show us what to do. “Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.” (Psalm 27:14) Instead of waiting for the world the change, wait for God to change the world. Wait and be amazed. And when God calls you to action, then stand up and do it. Don’t be the one to look back and say, “I’m still ‘waiting on the world to change.’”
