After the service we had lunch with the Church family. It was actually really fun. I enjoyed getting to talk to people, or try to at least. Brianna and I sat at a table together and were trying to figure out how to eat and what to eat, and when to start and stuff. But it went good. And then after lunch was cleaned up, the adults had caregroup, and we took some of the kids to the park. That was a ton of fun. Even though we couldn't really communicate with the kids because of the language barrier, kids are still kids no matter what language they speak. And there is no language for playing and laughing. It's all the same. That was definitly a ton of fun. But it made me miss working at Manitoba House, and playing with the kids that I know and I am familiar with. It just makes me pray for them more though, so I guess that's a good thing. After we got back from the park we played with the kids till the parents were done, and then we headed home. We were all pretty tired so we lay around for an hour before Darlene and I made spaghetti sauce, and we had it with rice. Laurence showed us how to make the rice in the rice cooker. I think that everyone should have a rice cooker! It is so easy and fast. The meal turned out pretty good (thank goodness!)
Yesterday we just had some team time, we prayed and shared how we were doing. It was really good to meet and share. We also practiced our drime because we want to have it ready to go whenever we need to perform it. I think we have it pretty much down now, so that is awesome!
Then today (Tuesday) we had a busier day. In the morning, two people went to the women's enligsh class that Leona teaches. Then at 9:30am we had Japanese manners lessons with two women from Church. That was really good, to find out what to do while we are eating, and entering a house and stuff. Although it was a lot to take in. We came back to the house, made lunch, and then we had a Japanese lesson from 1:00-2:30. Our heads were definitly spinning after that time because we had learnt so much today. But we got some homework, and a lot of stuff to practice during our free time. If we want to learn the language (or at least some of it) we really need to give it our best effort.
Tonight Joanna and I were on supper and so we made curry. Well it was this instant curry sauce that we had bought, and then we added meat, potatoes, carrots and onions. With rice, this turned out great. I think I am realizing that I actually like cooking, I just haven't done it very much. This is a really great chance for me to learn though, since we each have to take turns making meals.
I have a couple of prayer requests:
-That we would continue to get along with the people in our team, living in intense community like this can sometimes be hard and cause frustrations. Pray that we would keep things centered on Jesus, the author and perfector of life.
-Please pray for the Hieberts, as they continue to do ministry here. Japan can be a frustrating place because results are not quick. Pray for patience with us, and strength and endurance to continue ministering and pastoring the people here.
-Pray for Sean, who is here teaching english with MBMSI. Pray that his teaching will make a difference in his students lives.
-Pray also for the people of Japan, because this is a very dark place spiritually, and they need the Light here. God is so desparately needed. Pray that people's hearts would be opened to receiving God's love.
Thank you for all your love and support and prayers. It means so much, and it is good to remember this on the days when I feel alone. Yesterday I was thinking about all the people who are praying for us, people who may not even know us. And I was so thankful. We are not in this alone. So thank you. It means so much.
God is good. He has already won!
